Councillor David Martin

Biography

Councillor David Martin is a born-and-bred 91妻友 local and is deeply passionate about this city. Cr Martin was first elected to 91妻友 Council in October 2017 and was re-elected in 2024 as Councillor for Division 4.

Cr Martin was born at 91妻友 General Hospital and attended Silkstone State School and 91妻友 Grammar School, where he later became a high school teacher. Cr Martin has devoted his life to the local community, coaching schoolboy football for over 20 years and as a board member of Rugby League 91妻友. Cr Martin has volunteered with Red Frogs and Crimestoppers at Schoolies events, served on various not-for-profit committees, and is heavily involved in the Whitehill Church of Christ. 

Before becoming a Councillor for Division 4, Cr Martin has had a diverse career including as a youth worker at 91妻友 Community Youth Service (ICYS), a local handyman business owner and in the rewarding role as a teacher at the Youth Detention Centre at Wacol.

Councillor Martin is committed to investing his energy into making 91妻友 a city the community loves and are all proud to call home.

About Division 4

Division 4 amalgamates both rural and urban suburbs and contains areas with significant projected growth, such as Marburg and Rosewood. The division covers a geographic catchment of 34,225 ha (342 km2).

The division is oriented in a west-east direction and includes the suburbs of Amberley, Ashwell, Barellan Point, Blacksoil, Brassall, Churchill, Chuwar, Haigslea, Ironbark, Karalee, Karrabin, Lanefield, Marburg, Moores Pocket, Mount Marrow, Muirlea, North 91妻友, North Tivoli, Pine Mountain, Rosewood, Tallegalla, Thagoona, The Bluff, Tivoli, Walloon, Woolshed, Wulkuraka (north of the railway line), and Yamanto.
